Standard Edition Version 2.0
The primary purpose of AASTP-1 (Manual of NATO Guidelines for the Storage of Military Ammunition and Explosives) is to establish conventional military ammunition and explosives safety principles and guidelines for NATO Nations. The manual is an open document without security classification or specific releasability instructions. This is in the interests of promoting ammunition and explosives safety worldwide and harmonisation of NATO requirements with other international explosives safety standards.
This Companion App is aligned to AASTP-1 Edition C Version 1 (Oct 21) and has been developed to conduct quick PES to ES Quantity Distance (QD) assessments for above ground storage. While permission has been granted to use information contained within AASTP-1, this tool is NOT endorsed by NATO, more specifically, the Group of Experts on the Safety Aspects of Transportation and Storage of Military Ammunition and Explosives (AC/258). For this reason the app should not be used for any formal site planning or QD assessments without validating outcomes with that provided in AASTP-1 and requirements published with your own nation’s regulations.
